Dog/Cat Animation Codes
All can animate by placing the correct animation name in the state field. Anims are as follows:

Golden Retriever (and Black Lab, Doberman and Rottweiler, since they operate on the same skeleton):
Goldenretriever_sit0
Goldenretriever_stand0

Chihuahua:
chihuahua_sit0
chihuahua_stand0

Beagle:
beagle_sit0
beagle_stand0

Pug:
pug_stand0

Cats:
cat_sit0
cat_stand0

To have the animal both sit and stand intermittently, just add the first letter of the actions to the status tab.
So that's just a G for the golden retriever and the likes.
C for the Chihuahua, etc. The pug only knows how to stand, but if you just put in the p than that's enough as well.
